The Irish team had a great boost yesterday with another girl going close, after Shannon Curley silver, this time it was Kelly Murphy qualifying for the Bronze medal pursuit play-off and only beaten by a very small margin by Katie Archibald (GB), and that means the top of Europe if not the world. Doing this “huzar” piece of racing brought her also the news that she broke the Irish Record for that distance of 3km!! So well done Kelly, only met you a few times briefly and will make a point of interviewing you next time we meet. Been 4th is disappointing maybe, but the benefits of such performance in this Olympian Qualifier is priceless. With Team Ireland in action today and tomorrow, the likes of Lara Gillespie chasing more European medals, so is Xeno Young and the pairing of Mark Downey and Fintan Ryan in the Madison to name a few there is a good fighting chance we get another medal or two
