David’s racing life abroad had his ups and downs, he certainly had some setbacks over the years, but each time he fights back and I am certain this time he will do the same. Racing life abroad away from your family and friends back home is not an easy way of life, doing a lot with “without”and hard work, knockbacks included. Thankfully this Irish warrior has a Belgian adopted family who soften the blow of hardship with Martine Verfaillie, his adopted mum during the winter season and the many volunteers around him to make him feel home. The Irish Champion returns to Ireland for the Nationals in Sligo and will be the man to beat (Photo’s courtesy of Martin Verfaillie or otherwise indicated, with thanks)

David reported on social media “Race was over before it had really begun after being taken out by another rider during the first lap. Was really looking forward to this race, always a personal favourite of the season and the new course made for a brutally hard lap that I felt good on. Thankfully no serious damage and we will line up again on Thursday for the World Cup Zolder”
