First, off al a thank you to Sean for this report and brilliant photos considering the weather, so glad to see it happening again, here up north we have to wait a little bit longer but at least we are off again. Sean review of the race: It was a cold and very wet Mondello Park that welcomed the 1st post COVID mass start races of 2020. After just 2 laps of the main race, 5 riders had forced their way off the front of a large A3 bunch and for a long time it looked like these 5 would stay away to contest the win as in the treacherous conditions the elite group struggled to come to terms with the breakaway. in fact at the bell for the last lap, these 5 still had 34secs to spare on a small chase group of A1/A2 riders and it wasn’t until just before the last corner that they succeeded in reeling them back in. So it came down to a sprint between 9 or so riders and Conor Murnane, UCD does what he does best, winning sprint finishes in Mondello. Fergus O’Regan, Murphy Surveyors, took a fine second having been one of the 5 breakaways with Aaron Wade, Powerhouse Sport taking a fine 3rd

A very promising start of Aaron Wade (Powerhouse Sport) as first year espoir with a 3rd in the main race
