Mark Cavendish has Michael Morkov and the wolfpack to thank for his 4th stage win in this Tour and his 34th in total. With this, he equals Eddy Merckx’s supposedly unapproachable record. Mind you Eddy Merckx done this by winning mountain stages, time trials, and sprints. and leading the race for 96 days, winning the TDF 5 times…It is not only the 34th overall win but also the 7th Quick-Step win for Mark Cavendish. No one ever did better. Tom Boonen, Julian Alaphilippe and Marcel Kittel each have 6.
Tomorrow: A typical transition stage towards the Pyrenees, with 3 x 2nd category climbs and a descending finish to Quillan.
A perfect “parcoure” for the classic riders in the race…Greg Van Avermaet and Philip Gilbert will give it a go for sure!! My tip for tomorrow is Wout Van Aert.
