Megan told her Instagram followers “Yesterday I found myself on the start line of the first-ever women’s @m2wcyclingclassic. It was super special to be part of this historic race and the 160km course didn’t disappoint! The race was spicy from the gun and I was v happy to find myself in the break of the day.
Despite trying to save as many beans as I could to attack at the end I was fourth across the line in the sprint.
Congrats to Maeve Plouffe, Josie Talbot, Matilda Raynolds as well as Georgie Howe, and Nicole Frain.
Also a massive thank you to Sequoia @bawbawcycles for fixing my bike after my bad luck with mechanicals in the Tour of Gippsland” Looking forward to seeing her again racing closer by…one of the revelations of women’s racing in Ireland last year, and already amazing us again!!
Stephen (Nathan’s dad) told us: “The Memorial Manuel Sanroma Valencia passed weekend was a 2-day stage race with 127 km on Sat & 167 km on Sunday in Madrid. 190 riders with teams like Burgos, Caja Rahal & Jumbo Visma development team to mention a few!! On day 2 only 120 riders started. Nathan was sent up the road & rode in the break for 100kms eventually finishing approx 70th. His team had 3riders in the top ten. A good start to the season. Nathan will also be riding the Copa Espana (12 X 1day-races) plus a few stage races in Europe & hopefully he will get a place in his team for the first 6-day Under 23 Tour of Spain later this year“
