This award I dedicate to our volunteers, sponsors, supporting clubs including my beloved Ards CC, our guest parents in Belgium and my wife Maggie who has supported my dream since the word go. Without them, I couldn’t have reached this amazing point in my life. No words can describe how I feel now except maybe flabbergast if that is a word. I don’t often show my emotions publicly but Saturday night at the award dinner of CI I had it difficult to hide, a tear or two in the way back from Dublin in the car I have to admit, thinking if my mum and dad and wishing they could have been there…I never made it as a cyclist, but this is for sure the next best thing. When such award is given to you and reflects how people judge you, it makes me proud, even feeling a little guilty for winning, as the other nominees are top people in our sport in Ireland, and deserve such accolade too! Living the dream is still very much alive and this will inspire me to find ways to help our youngsters a wee step up the ladder…this is what it is all about…my sincere thanks to the cycling fraternity of Ireland. Here a few photos I took at the City West Hotel on Saturday, a night I shared with same minded people
