56th Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey (2.Pro) Stage 3: Beysehir >> Alanya (212.6km)
Mark Cavendish is certainly back to his winning ways! In the Tour of Turkey, he won his 2nd bunch sprint in a row, this time in the finish town of Alanya. A few breaks happened over this long 200+ km 3rd stage, but with 15km to go, all were together again and the position game started, ready for another bunch sprint on a rough surface with even drain covers near the line!! Israel Start-Up Nation rolled out the red carpet, but André Greipel seems to lost his fast legs in the last 25 meters. Belgian Jasper Philipsen was well placed, but the spearhead of Alpecin-Fenix was hindered by Rick Zabel, the pilot of Greipel. Philipsen could not fully defend his chances and saw Mark Cavendish motoring past them with no change of remounting him again…Cav improved his lead in the GC and also in the point classification. Our Irish riders Jesse Ewart (Sapura Cycling) and Cormac Mc Geough (Wildlife Generation Cycling) finished at the same time as the winner in the belly of the bunch.
