Karl with his brothers at one of their training days

Foreword Dany: Some moments in life you feel proud of what happens around you, and when you actually know this good soul it even makes it sweeter…My club Ards CC has not many youngsters in their ranks (something the club is working hard on to improve) and the 3 brothers Rocket are the ones who have been our mascots the last few years…They have been on most podiums around the province and on a national level in Road Racing and Cyclo-cross events flying the club’s colours..and flying they do ..The oldest one called Karl and is now 13 years old, he decided to do something for a charity that is close to his family’s heart..and is willing to cycle from Coleraine (Antrim) to Comber ( Down and his hometown) on a chosen route that is 100 miles long!! A hell of distance for such a young lad maybe, but he has been training to get used to such distance, but determined to do so, his father Terry told me. Raising money for a very valuable charity and this has to be supported. Already £900 has been raised before a pedal is pushed!! Good luck young man…very proud of you !!

My name is Karl Rockett, I am 13 years old and I live in Comber. I have been cycling for the past 5 years and I would like to do a charity event for Macmillan Cancer NI. I have chosen a 100-mile cycle, which I will complete in one day. I’ve chosen this charity as I have had some family members affected. I have planned a route from Coleraine to Comber along the North Coast and I hope to complete this in May. All donations are greatly appreciated. Thanks very much, yours in sport, Karl.
