It was a long await for many of the riders to join again for a serious spin…but it was well worthed the wait

The Tour of Monaghan 13/06/21 …What a beautiful day in a warm Monaghan with a welcomed breeze to cool off a bit…especially for the over 200 riders with 2 distances on offer (The riders been split into different pods and separated of starting times to adhere to the Covid restriction rules) The 140 km for the seasoned riders and 90km for the leisure riders on offer. Not easy kilometers, as the roads are very rolling and bending with serious drags at times, but on smooth surfaces all the way around the county of Monaghan…I was doing the MC job before the start and then up the road to take some shots and back to the Head Quarters in the grounds of the Truagh GAA – St Mellans Park, Lisseagh, Emyvale, Co. Monaghan to welcome the riders back…This sportive (who was voted and awarded the “Sportive of the Year award” of the CI members a few years back) got his biggest entry since the promoters organised this great event. A great event for all involved…Emyvale CC knows their onions when it comes to sportives…well done Tommy Mc Cague ( A very active and hands-on CU Chairman) and his army of volunteers…a safe event and all covid rules followed to the point…all lunch packets separate packed and all that jazz…well done …thank you Emyvale CC for the donation to the project…it helps us traveling and reporting feel-good stories like this one, here below some selected photo’s of yesterday, you can see them all on https://www.facebook.com/danyblondeel, regards Dany B

The loyal support I get from Carl Fullerton https://www.donegalharvest.net/potatoes/ and his lovely wife Eileen, this for all the years of running the project is so dear to me…thank you again for the donation towards my running costs, it will give me the chance of visiting more Southern races
Tag yourself…lol
Tommy McCague (Emyvale CC and current CU Chairman and President) made sure all proceedings to the current rules been adhered to…separated food bags at the finish as an example
And to end….. a funny photo of a decal of one of the support vehicle’s….They getting very liberal in Monaghan..lol
