The John Shanahan Memorial TTT

The John Shanahan Memorial is a 2-Up Handicap Team Time Trial in honour of former Midleton CTC club-memberJohn Shanahan. John was a visually impaired tandem cyclist, who passed away in 2020. This 2 rider time trial is on an 18mile (30km) course and is open to road bikes and tandems. Strava link: https://www.strava.com/segments/30643262. There will be a timed start at 12.00 on Saturday the 19th, however, teams can complete the course between 13.00 and 16.00 on Saturday 19 or between 09.00-16.00 Sunday 20 February and record same on Strava. Time handicaps will be awarded by the event organiser when you register your team with the event organisers at midletonctc@gmail.com or bhennessy@oldvelos.com… A perpetual trophy will be awarded to the winners of the handicap event, as well as prizes for other category winners. The Cycling Ulster Off-road Commission (CUORC) is hosting off-road training days at Castlewellan Forest Park on Sunday 20 February 2022 and Sunday 27 March 2022. These sessions are for Ulster youth riders, boys and girls, in the Under 14s and Under 16s age categories. (Year of birth 2006 – 2009). We are planning a mixture of trail riding skills, hill climbs, technical sections, and downhill sections. The sessions are aimed at those riders who are considering racing in cross-country or enduro races in 2022. Schedule: Meet in the main car park at 9:30 am…Head out onto the trails at 10:00…Back for 1:00…Riders will need to have a current Cycling Ireland license and will need to pre-register. This will start from Katesbridge head to Castlewellan, head back to Kilcoo, then turn left to Hilltown, Yellow Water, Rostrevor, Kilkeel, Ballymartin, Annalong, Newcastle, Castlewellan then back to Katesbridge for the finish.
