Team Madigan Cycling Club, Carrickfergus will promote the 31st Madigan Cycles Grand Prix at Kilroot near Carrickfergus Co. Antrim starting at 11.00 am and finishing at around 1.30 pm on Saturday 13th August. Sign-On and Changing will be in the Eden Community Centre / Beltoy Playing Fields, Beltoy Road, Kilroot, and Carrickfergus. For the 31st year, the race is again kindly sponsored by Mr. Ronnie McKeegan of Madigan Cycles / Pro Bike Centre in Carrickfergus. This year we have four additional sponsors kindly helping to support this long-standing race. They are GM Energy Management, CSC Concrete Cutting, Supporting Sport, Richard Greer Car Sales Doagh, plus a contribution from Team Madigan C.C. making this year’s prize fund over £1,800.
The main race for A* A1 A2 starting at 11.00 am will be 54 miles 3 laps of the testing 18-mile circuit that takes in Kilroot, Whitehead, Magheramourne, Glynn, Gleno, Seven Sisters Climb KOH, Beltoy decent back to Kilroot. There will be Cash prizes for the first 6 over the line, plus the first unplaced A2, Junior, and First Team Madigan Rider home. There will be a KOH prime on laps 1 and 2, the first rider over the line to count.
The A3 Race will start at 11.05 am and be 2 laps = 36 miles with the first 6 riders over the line winning cash prizes, and there will be a KOH prime on lap 1, the first rider over the line to count.
The A4 Race will start at 11.07 and be 2 laps = 36 miles with the first 6 riders over the line winning cash prizes, and there will be a KOH prime on lap 1, the first rider over the line to count.
The Master’s category for over 50 vets will start at 11.09 am and will also be 2 laps = 36 miles and cash prizes for the first 6 riders over the line. There will be a KOH prime on lap 1, the first rider over the line to count. Please note Masters Over 50 Vets will be given a temporary race number from the promoter! color:#2C2C29″>
The Ladies will start at 11.11 am and again it will be 2 laps = 36 miles. The first 6 over the line win cash prizes. Please note Ladies will be given a temporary race number from the promoter!
Sign-On is from 9.30 am to 10.30 am. Riders will make their way the short distance to the start line at Kilroot individually or in small groups and assemble on the hard shoulder in their race order/start times as set out above.
Light refreshments are served in Eden Community Centre Kilroot after racing is completed. (Please note there is no underage racing)! Note the showers will be out of order and Riders should bring their own wash items with them / Apologies for this, Davy Ross (Team Madigan Secretary).
